Scarlet Badis also known as Dario Dario can reach approximately 1 inch in length as adults. The adult males are truly living gems!
From Brillant Orange to ruby red covered with seven red bands that extended into the fins. Interspersed with Brillant silvery blue stripes makes these fish truly amazing.
Best kept in heavily planted tanks to keep aggression down between the males.
Feeding these little gems can be tough… A diet of live black worms, baby brine shrimp and finely ground pellet Foods. Frozen cyclops is one of the most preferred foods as it is full of all nutrients and can be used as a primary diet.
Water conditions are not that important as long as extremes are avoided. A temperature of around 80 and a pH of around 7.0
is ideal.
Breeding these little gems is not that difficult and heavily planted tank.
Given a good diet the adults will spawn every 3 to 4 weeks. Java moss is a preferred spawning substrate.
